About EA:
The Encyclopedia of Associations (EA), Volume 1, is the only comprehensive source of detailed information concerning more than 22,000 nonprofit American membership organizations of national scope. For nearly fifty years and through 38 earlier editions, EA’s listing of associations and professional societies is unsurpassed as a “switchboard” connecting persons needing information to highly qualified sources.

The editorial objective for each edition of EA is complete verification or updating of existing entries and the identification and description of new or previously unlisted organizations. This intensive effort includes several revision form mailings and direct contact by correspondence and telephone with nonresponding groups.

Am I eligible for EA?
The organizations described in EA fall into the following general categories:

National, nonprofit membership associations, which represent the largest number of organizations listed;

International associations, which are generally North American in scope and membership or binational, representing a direct link between the United States and another country or region; also includes American or North American sections, chapters, or divisions of associations headquartered outside of the United States;

Local and regional associations, only if their subjects or objectives are national in interest;

Nonmembership organizations, if they disseminate information to the public as well as to the researcher;
